Brief History of Clayton, Ga
The City of Rabun County’s, County Site Clayton is in the Dividings. This area is known to the Cherokee and other Indian Settlements as a diverging point of several major trails. US 441 and US 76 are two of these trails. Both are major Georgia roads today. In 1821 settlers find Clayton. It is originally known as Claytonsville. Clayton is incorporated and renamed in 1823. Angel Falls Trail at Lake Rabun Beach is a 2 mile hike where you can enjoy two waterfalls, Angel Falls and Panther Falls.
