In 1974, John Dillard is awarded a land grant for his service in the American Revolution. Today, Dillard, Ga encompasses the land in the valley. Dillard continues to grow and by 1905 is a booming mountain town. Furthermore, Dillard became accessible in 1907 with the arrival of the railroad. Arthur & Carrie Dillard, the great-grandson of John Dillard, open a boarding house which is known today as The Dillard House.
