BRIEF HISTORY OF DILLARD, GA
In 1974, John Dillard is awarded a land grant for his service in the American Revolution. Today, Dillard, Ga encompasses the land in the valley. Many prominent families inhabit the area, but in 1890 the Postal Service chooses Dillard as the towns official name.
Dillard continues to grow and by 1905 is a booming mountain town. Dillard became accessible in 1907 with the arrival of the railroad. Arthur & Carrie Dillard, the great-grandson of John Dillard, opened a boarding house. This house is known today as The Dillard House. About the Area:
